Take the MIT Weblog Survey

After a long time...

I am writing again after around 5 months! In between, I traveled a lot, went to Tirunelveli, Bangalore for 4 months and Kuala Lumpur (KL) for one month. Bangalore is amidst a metamorphosis and we have to wait to see whether it is for good or bad. Crippling infrastructure, but bubbling youth and people :). KL is a traveller's and a tourist's haven! The city is integrated especially for a tourist. KLIA (International Airport) has an amazing architecture and supports thousands of landings, take offs and millions of people. I could also notice many things in KL, including usage of automation wherever possible. Though a Muslim country, people are not that conservative but mostly liberal. The view atop one of the tallest communication towers in the world, Menaral KL (Menara - Tower in Bahasa Malaysia) is breathtaking! http://www.menarakl.com
Here in TN, Amma wants to abolish Entrance Exams (She does lots of stunts especially when Elections are on the anvil) citing the reasons that it gives an edge to city students and that rural students are not benefitted. In my view, An entrance exam is a must, but unlike what has been conducted so far which places emphasis on the memorising capacity rather than thinking capacity of the students. There is more to the issue that just saying! We need to address the issues at the grass roots level. The method of teaching or rather to use a better word, the method of educating has to completely change. Kids have to be taught ways to think and act rather than read, memorise and write! Though this issue has been on the air for a long time, the sad fact is that no concrete step or solution has been found out for this by the Educationists or the Government!
